About Matteson Rotary
Club Number 3182
In 1976, the Chicago Heights Rotary Club sponsored the formation of the Matteson Rotary Club which had its formal charter night on June 27, 1977. The club was started with 25 charter members -- all dedicated to serving the community and participating in Rotary International programs. Today our club still has as members an original charter member and others who have been in the club since its earliest days. Our most recent member joined us in April, 2014. We continually search for new members who are also ready to become a Matteson Rotary Club member and to make a long-term commitment to "Service Above Self".
In 1992, the club's members and directors voted to expand the club's territory to include Olympia Fields and Richton Park. The request was submitted to Rotary International and it approved amending our charter to include the additional towns.
Matteson Rotary is part of the worldwide organization of Rotary International (RI). As of April, 2014, RI is comprised of 34,558 local Rotary Clubs in over 200 countries with 1,220,115 million members. A member of any Rotary Club is always a "welcomed visiting Rotarian" at any club in the world.
Our membership is made up of men and women of good character and good business, professional, and/or community reputation. We are committed to providing humanitarian service, maintaining high ethical standards in all vocations, promoting fellowship, and building goodwill and peace in the world.
